What will it cost me?
Basically your time.
Will I be covered by insurance?
Yes. The Rural Fire Service provides:
- legal protection against claims for damages;
- workers compensation coverage;
- free personal protective equipment for firefighting; and
- subsidised firefighting appliances and equipment.
I don't wish to become a firefighter. Can I help in other ways?
There are different classes of membership. You don't need to be a firefighter to be a member of a rural fire brigade because there are a number of other roles that you can perform that support both the brigade and the local community.
