Malone Committee Starts Implementing Malone Review Recommendations

The Assistant Minister for Emergency Volunteers Ted Malone has announced a further 15 recommendations from his review into rural fire services in Queensland have been approved by the Malone Review Working Group. The Malone Review made 91 recommendations regarding the structure, function, leadership and funding of the Rural Fire Service.

On Monday 11th November, Rural Fire Brigade volunteers wore their yellows on the streets of Brisbane CBD standing alongside Australian Army, Navy and Air Force personnel to help raise awareness of Remembrance Day and of the fallen heroes.

RFBAQ And QLD State Gvt Agree To Increased Ongoing Support For Rural Fire Brigades

In light of the heightened fire dangers that will be facing communities across the South East of Queensland this weekend, the RFBAQ is requesting that Brigades and Volunteers defer any plans to visit the Ashgrove Electorate Office of the Premier this weekend and instead keep their appliances and volunteers close to the communities that they protect.

The QFES Transition Team document as supplied by Commissioner Johnson clearly states that 117 recommendations relating to the new department are being implemented now. Not one person on the steering committee comes from a Rural Fire background.
