Message from the RFBAQ President about the watershed events in the RFBAQ and Queensland.
As President of the RFBAQ I would like to thank members of the paid staff whose support played a major role in the preparation of our submission to the Minister for Police and Community Safety. For obvious reasons I cannot name you publicly, but I will always remember your efforts.
To the Senior Executive Management (SEM) and Elected Representatives; since you all agreed to the restructure of the RFBAQ and our new Single Service Policy, it has become clear that your decision has been vindicated. This was the first major issue to put the new RFBAQ to the test and you have all passed with flying colours.
To the Honourable Jack Dempsey MP, Minister for Police and Community Safety and his Ministerial Staff; being newly elected and acknowledging your enormous workload, your preparedness to listen to the concerns of volunteer fire-fighters has shown that this truly is a watershed event in the relationship between the RFBAQ and our elected Government.
Again I would like to thank you all for the work and commitment that you have dedicated to supporting the 1,400 rural fire brigades and 34,000 volunteer fire-fighters who protect over 93% of Queensland.
Yours faithfully,
Mike Garrahy AFSM
President of the RFBAQ
