National Volunteer Week 14-20 May 2012 - 'Volunteers - Every One Counts'
Rural Fire Brigade Volunteers in Queensland protect 93% of the state.
There are 1,400 Volunteer Rural Fire Brigades in Queensland.
There are 34,000 Volunteer Fire Brigade members in Queensland.
Rural Fire Brigades in Queensland have 415 fire stations, 942 fire appliances, 2,361 slip on units & 461 trailer units.
Without everyday Queenslanders Volunteering to wear the yellow coat and join their local brigade, there would be no Rural Fire Service and no organised fire fighting or fire mitigation activities undertaken in Queensland.
Queensland needs Volunteers as we live in a geographically vast state with a small population. No Queensland Government would be able to supply fire response and mitigation without Volunteers.
The age makeup of Rural Fire Brigades in Queensland-
15 – 19yo – 1.82%
20 – 24yo – 4.29%
25 – 34yo – 10.65%
35 – 44yo – 18.72%
45 – 54yo – 25.23%
55 – 64yo – 22.25%
65 – 74yo – 12.92%
75 – 84yo – 3.75%
85yo + – 0.38%
