Deputy Commissioner Emergency Services Volunteers Position Advertised

The RFBAQ encourages all RFB volunteers who are eligible to apply for this position that will lead the 2 strongest streams of the QFES which are the 35,000 Rural Fire Brigade volunteers and the 5,000 State Emergency Service volunteers.

The successful candidate for the Deputy Commissioner Emergency Services Volunteers will possess the following:

  • A leadership style that nurtures a culture of realising each employee’s potential, including fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce
  • Capacity to contribute to the strategic development of QFES as a key member of the executive leadership team
  • Experience in leading change in large, complex and well established environments
  • Experience in leading a large geographically dispersed team containing a significant volunteer component
  • A track record of high quality operational delivery of emergency services, supported by innovation and continuous improvement
  • An understanding of land management and the use of fire in the landscape is desirable
