Pin Gin Hill RFB grant approved for 3,000ltr stainless steel tank
Monday, 22 Jan 2018
On Saturday the RFBAQ SEM met and approved a grant of $4,202 for Pin Gin Hill RFB in the Innisfail RFSQ Area.
The brigade is a cane brigade and has 17 active firefighters with 20 support members and is located just outside Innisfail on the Palmerston Highway.
The main firefighting equipment used in the brigade area are 3,000 ltr galvanised tanks mounted on cane bin trailers that are towed by 4wd tractors. There are four of these in the brigade area and some are beginning to corrode heavily after about 20 years of service.
The brigade has decided to replace the old galvanised tank to stainless steel as it is corrosion resistant and stronger than poly.
The brigade receives no Rural Fire Levy and says that with rates, insurance and the cost of living ever increasing, farmers and residents would be unable to raise this money locally.
Pin Gin Hill RFB successfully applied for the RFBAQ / QFES PPB Community defence grants last year and received 2 x chainsaw helmet kits, 2 x chainsaw chaps and 2 x pair of special work gloves valued at $927.60
