A very kind bequest was made of $37,000 to the RFBAQ by the late Gladys Wooley for the benefit of brigades in the Townsville RFSQ Area.
The RFBAQ called for expressions of interest from local brigades and 24 applications were received.
In Charters Towers on Saturday afternoon, Jim Besgrove, Townsville RFBAQ rep distributed $1,500 Bunnings gift cards to Townsville brigades who were present - Rupertswood, Cungulla, Bluewater, Rangewood, Black River, NROSG, Oak Valley, Saunders Beach, and Toobana.
The cards for Bambaroo, Mount Fox, and Stone River are being delivered by Toobana 1st Officer and Ingham legend Lenny Toscano.
The brigades who will receive their cards when Jim gets back to Townsville are Clevedon, Milaroo Dalberg, Mount Kelly, Reid River, Saint Michaels Creek, Grouper Creek, Jerona, Nome, Round Mountain, Scott, Horseshoe Bay, and Puruno.
24 x $1,500 is $36,000. The extra $1,000 in gift cards went to NRSOG to help cover the costs of the excellent exercise that they held over the weekend that 60 brigade members and staff attended.
