Severe tropical cyclone Ita crossed the coast at Cape Flattery North of Cooktown on Friday and worked its way down the coastal strip where it impacted Townsville on Sunday morning before heading further down the coast. Northern Region set up a Regional Operations Centre headed by regional incident controller Superintendent Ken Beasley (RFSQ)
