Grants approved at RFBAQ General Meeting

Kunwarara Rural Fire Brigade in the Rockhampton RFSQ area is 51 klm Northwest of Yeppoon; has 7 active and 4 support members in a brigade area that is 480sq klm including a long Bruce Highway frontage.

The approved grant was for up to $4,000 towards a ride on mower.

Previous RFBAQ grants to Kunwarara RFB was in 2021, a Landcruiser Light Attack (type 2) $120,000, a hardship grant of $2,349 following a house fire in 2021, a FLIR handheld thermal imaging camera in 2023 and in $3,150 in 2020 for handheld UHF portable radios.

 

North Stradbroke Island Rural Fire Brigade in the South Coast RFSQ area has 20 active members and 1 support member with the a brigade area of 111 sq klm. The brigade was reformed in December 2014 following a public meeting convened by the RFBAQ with Ted Malone.

The approved grant was for $2,074 for tools to assist with minor repairs and maintenance of the brigades fire trucks and firefighting equipment.

Previous RFBAQ grants to North Stradbroke Island RFB was a Buy Local Grant for a $1,668 marquee a RFBAQ/Rexel safety equipment grant, a FLIR handheld thermal imaging camera and a communication grant for a SatSleeve Hotspot.

 

Stonehenge Rural Fire Brigade in the Central West RFSQ area has 4 active and 2 support members.

The approved grant was for $1,498 to purchase storage lockers for ppe and operation equipment. The town of Stonehenge has recently been isolated for a number of weeks due to flooding and having additional clean storage space will enable the brigade to hold extra stock of dust free mould free ppe.

Previous RFBAQ grants to Stonehenge RFB have been a RFBAQ/Rexel safety equipment grant, a FLIR handheld thermal imaging camera.

 


In the last financial year, the RFBAQ has provided $866,163.98 ex GST to brigades through the donation of the FusionCruiser, Buy Local Brigade Grants, Standard Grants, Brigade Resource packs and Brigade Specific Donations.

Over the last 5 years the RFBAQ has provided over $6 million, which is a phenomenal achievement for a small state-based charity.

That’s real, on the ground support and improvement for brigades and brigade members across Queensland and shows that the objects of the Association are being met –

To provide financial assistance and support to Rural Fire Brigades and their Brigade Members
