Last week during firefighting operations in the Mackay RFSQ Area the hose reel fell off a new fire truck. This is the second known instance of a hose reel falling off a traveling vehicle of this design.

The neighbouring brigade that had only had their new truck for a week checked their hose reel and found that it also was unstable and many other bolts were loose.

Last Wednesday the RFBAQ met with QFD Commissioner and RFSQ Chief Officer and requested that a safety notice be distributed to all brigades. This has not happened.

If you have a new design medium attack please check for metal fatigue on the high flow hose reel mount, check all bolts, not only on hose reels, but on light masts and also check the high pressure alternator mounting as on Saturday this was also found to have failed.
