Yellow Ribbon Day is in 2 weeks

Not long now, until Yellow Ribbon Day 2026!

 An RFBAQ initiative, Yellow Ribbon Day is a way of acknowledging the commitment and dedication that over 26,000 rural fire brigade volunteers provide to Queensland.

Yellow Ribbon Day is the physical way that politicians, councils, business and members of the public can show support for all Rural Fire Brigades and the volunteers who wear the yellow coat and ride the yellow trucks.

Not tied to any claims and not as a fundraiser, the intent of the day is to engender a positive conversation and to display support.

Yellow Ribbon Day starts in the morning at Parliament House, with Bli Bli Rural Fire Brigade  fire trucks on display at the Porte Cochere from 8am. MPs are encouraged to inspect the trucks and meet the volunteer firefighters.

Yellow Ribbon Day concludes with the Queensland Parliamentary Friends of Rural Fire Brigades function between 6.30pm and 8.30pm in the Parliamentary Annexe.

With a number of Rural Fire Brigade members attending the evening function travelling for up to two days to attend the two-hour event, and taking time off work, exhibits the importance that brigade members have in being able to tell the story of their local brigades and local volunteers.
