I have been a rural fire fighter for the last 25 years. In that time I have been the Secretary for two years, after which I was elected First Officer and have held that position since then up till the present time.
Also for the last 18 years, I have been in either the Group Officer or Deputy Group Officer position. Currently, I hold the Group Officer position of the Stanley River Group.
Regarding my RFSQ qualifications, I hold FMS, FAS, Crew Leader, First Officer training and Certificate 2 in Public Safety Fire Fighting.
During my time in the Villeneuve Brigade, I have worked with the other members to establish the Brigade from having no equipment or facilities whatsoever, to one that now has a Fire Station with an Operations Room, Training Room, kitchen, four appliance engine bay with workshop and storage areas.
Before my retirement from paid employment, I was a self-employed building contractor. I have two children and one grandchild. My passion is working within the Rural Fire Brigade, supporting the community and my colleagues in the RFS. During my time in the service, I have developed and utilised the skills for participating in meetings from Brigade level to Executive Officer and meetings with Council representatives.
My aim for this position is to represent the views of all the Brigades that encompass the Caboolture District, and advance the RFSQ to the highest level possible. I will achieve this by regularly consulting and attending the various meetings held by the Groups and Brigades in the district.
