I joined the Rural Fire service in February 2006 as a support member with the Turkey Beach Rural Fire Brigade. In 2009 I was elected as Secretary, 2011 I upgraded my status to firefighter then in 2014 achieved the rank of Crew Leader. I was appointed the Fire Warden for the Turkey Beach Area when my hubby retired from that position. When the Administration Officer for the Miriam Vale Group retired due to ill health in 2013, I was appointed to this position then to Treasurer of my Brigade in 2014. I hold these positions to the current date.
I have a passion for the Rural Fire Service and feel that I have found my niche in life. I respect all of our volunteers who give so much commitment to keeping our areas as safe as is humanly possible. I look forward to serving as the Gladstone RFBAQ Representative.
