$1,000 Helps Fix Gutters For Fire Brigade
Tuesday, 7 Mar 2017
DALMA Rural Fire Brigade's building desperately needs new gutters, so the volunteer firefighters are banking on the RFBAQ to help them out.
Located half an hour west of Rocky, the brigade has applied for a $1,000 under the RFBAQ Primary Producer Community Defence grant program.
Applications for the grants close on March 20.
Many of the state's small non-truck brigades that do not benefit from their local council or the Rural Fire Levy have applied for their share of the $50,000 funding pool.
All you need to do is spend the money on equipment for your brigade and make sure the purchase is made from stores in your community.
"We would like to replace the guttering on the brigade building to stop further damage and catch rain water to fill our slip-on units for firefighting," the brigade says in its application.
The Primary Producer grants were made possible through the combined forces of the Rural Fire Brigades Association Queensland, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and the Rural Fire Service Queensland.
The grants are available for volunteer-based brigades without trucks.
This is the first time the grants have been offered.
Applications close on Monday, March 20, 2017.
