The Rural Fire Brigade Association Queensland (RFBAQ) was delighted to receive advice from the Argyle Masonic Lodge 164 (which meets at Forest Hill) that the lodge held a charity bowls day at the Laidley Bowls Club on Sunday the 8th of June 2025. This resulted in excess of $5000.00 being raised for five of the local Rural Fire Brigades in the Laidley area.
The lodge submitted a cheque for $5000.00 to our organization. The RFBAQ is a deductible gift recipient and as such is the conduit for funds for distribution to the 5 nominated Rural Fire Brigades. We pass on 100% of donations to the nominated brigades.
The sum raised will receive a dollar-for-dollar subsidy which will result in a grand total of $10,000 being distributed. The dollar-for-dollar subsidy is provided by the Hand Heart Pocket Foundation which is the charitable arm of the Freemasons Association of Queensland.
The RFBAQ will distribute the funds as directed by the Argyle Masonic Lodge as such funds are deemed to be “donation-specific” to the nominated brigades which are:
- Mulgowie Rural Fire Brigade
- Blenheim Rural Fire Brigade
- Hatton Vale Rural Fire Brigade
- Woodlea Rural Fire Brigade
- Grandchester Rural Fire Brigade
The co-convener, Peter Hooper of Argyle Lodge advised that the Mulgowie Brigade assisted greatly on the conduct of the day; particularly with the provisions and auction items donation by a member of that brigade (which raised $1975.00). 12 of the players who participated provided provisions and prizes for raffles on the day as well. 63 community members participated on the day which was a wonderful result.
Our association is very grateful for the charitable event conducted by the Argyle Masonic Lodge and the Dollar-for-Dollar subsidy provided by the Hand Heart Pocket Foundation which resulted in the spectacular success on the day.
