May 2008. I have been an active member of the Western Cape Regional Fire Brigade from
2nd of May 2008 until the present day.
Over the past 17 years I have held several positions within the Western Cape Rural Fire Brigade, such as 2nd Officer,
Training Officer, Equipment Officer, I have been filling the position of Secretary for the last couple of years until a suitable replacement is sourced, I also hold the position of First Officer and have for the last 10 years and I was one of the first Volunteer Community Educators at the inception of the program. I am also an active member of the Weipa Local Disaster Management Committee.
I have always been passionate about giving back to my community, I find it rewarding and enjoy the mate ship and relationships built up over the years.
I started my working life in agriculture and spent 24 years in farming operations, did a few other jobs in between events such as chemist spare man, setting up a tropical fruit winery, courier, and bus driver. I have been living and working in the Weipa area as an Emergency Services officer for Rio Tinto for what will be 17 years this year.
