I was born and bred in the Flinders Shire in NW Qld, and grew up on my family’s cattle station south of Hughenden. Along with my husband we run two beef grazing properties in the Flinders Shire. I have been on many committees and in executive positions in our shire in the past 30 years.
I have been a member of both Prairie and Torrens Creek Rural Fire Brigades for a great number of years, becoming more active around 2006 when we purchased a property in the Torrens Creek Brigade Area. Torrens Creek Rural Fire Brigade is very active as the area is quite a high fire risk area being situated on the west side of the Great Divide and highly prone to lightning strike. I took on the role of Secretary in 2022 while also providing background support during active fires (comms and logistics) as well as on fire ground as required. In 2025 I was encouraged to become Goldfield’s Representative for Savannah Rural Advisory
Committee.
