I am currently the newly elected First Officer for Flinders Peak Rural Fire Brigade. I have been a member for the last 12 years. I took the calling when I saw the devastation that the 2011 floods had on our community & I wanted to be able to help in any way possible.
I also do a lot of volunteering for local communities centres & Animal Welfare Organisations.
I have been born & bred on the land in different farming types. Dairy cattle to beef cattle & horses.
I still spend a lot of my spare time on the family farm assisting with raising a small beef cattle herd & various breeds of horses.
Although I'm a qualified Conservation & Land Management Officer, this ' greenie ' uses her knowledge to improve her duties as a Firefighter & Officer.
I'm also a VCE, Sub PIO & Divisional Commander which does enhance the duties I can perform within the services. This opens up the opportunities for me to travel, learn & liaise with all community sectors in and around West Moreton & beyond.
I am a mum of 2 teenagers who definitely keep me on my toes. And if my setting a good example of community volunteering & helping spirit passes down to them I'll be an even prouder mum than I already am.
